LIMITED EDITION POSTER © 2006
Beautifully produced on heavy art paper and printed in gorgeous black and silver inks in a limited edition of just 95, each poster is personally signed and numbered by John Hurford (the poster has a white border and is shown here photographed against a grey background). The poster is huge! - c.28 inches x 38 inches - It has been produced directly from John Hurford's original 1968 master, all the original posters pulled from it from this period (all 30 of them!) having long since disappeared - see the Archive.
The poster advertises the Exeter University Coming Up Ball, headlined by the Nashville Teens. This was held on the campus at Devonshire House on Friday 19th April 1968, entry price 6 shillings. The little bits of writing and poetry printed on the poster seem to have lost most of their meaning over the years, but are very much 'of the time' - "Enchanted woodlands, north and country lanes, Magna Carta biplanes weaving among the asteroids" and "Dedicated to all people under 8 and those reformed goblins and hobgoblins from our sea lashed northern shores and all those practising magic in the lower west region." A fabulous piece!
